Today I added an e-book version of Homo Competens to the online store. It's price is about half the one of the printed book. Not because that price feels right (We still need to come to a widely accepted price range for e-books, all publishers are experimenting like they experimented when the DVD came along.) I just entered the same author fee I want as for the printed book, and that was the resulted price with all the sales commission etc on top.
The format is PDF, and it is not protected by digital rights management. If people want to steal, they will find a way. I actually wanted to make it in the EPUB format, an open format for e-books. But none of the converters I tried could do a good job of converting my source file, and it seems like a lot of extra work to make the EPUB one, so I gave up. Maybe later, if anyone would actually be interested in it. The PDF version looks pretty good, actually it is exactly like the book, but with some color.
