End of my summer - so now what?

My summer is over. It has been a blast, with a visit to Berlin and a long trip by car through 7 countries all the way to Dubrovnik and back. I've been reading (Stieg Larsson and Dan Pink's Drive), I've been eating (a plate with about a school of 100 tiny fried fish was the most unusual plate), I've been in several museums (I can recommend the one on naive art in Zagreb btw) and on the beach. And I've been thinking about the months ahead. Tomorrow I'm going to the office again, and part II of the year will start.

This is a short intention statement of what you can expect in the coming months.

Workshop 'Homo Competens': There's a workshop scheduled at Online Educa Berlin in December around my book. It is called 'let's talk about competent people', and will focus both on the HoCo, and on the Competence Architect who creates environments where competent people can thrive in. I'm very much looking forward to this one, and as part of the preparation for the workshop I'm planning to create a web walk and a small serious game.

Shift in focus towards experience: I'm a hard core learning professional, with a specialization in e-learning. That won't change. But all in all, e-learning is a mature field now, with established practices, and a lot of press, bloggers, etc. I will in this blog focus more on the experience part, as I believe this is an area we neglect far too much. We learn from experience. Excuse me, I mean we learn by reflecting on experience. It is the second part of my 'learn, do, share' credo.

One blog, this one: as part of this shift in focus, I'll gradually close down my other external blog 6C learning and only maintain this one that has a broader focus than only the pure learning and training part.

Concept sites: to illustrate the principles of 'Homo Competens', I plan to create a few concept sites. These will be beta applications on the web, fully functional, for learning, doing and sharing. The first one should be ready enough to show you in the next months. It will be one on web walks, as an alternative learning path.

That's what I have in my mind for the next months. Obviously, I'll keep you posted!
